Karen Peck and New River is a 3-time Grammy Award Nominated and 2-time GMA Dove Award Winning Southern Gospel Group. Karen’s flawless, delightful soprano voice has made its way into the hearts of Gospel Music lovers across the country and garnered an unprecedented 11 Favorite Soprano Fan Awards from the readers of The Singing News Magazine, Southern Gospel Music’s leading fan and trade publication. Karen, Susan and Jeff have also received many awards from other magazine publications and Internet publications. Over the past four years, New River has had five consecutive #1 songs in Southern Gospel Music. In addition, their current album, Reach Out, has had two consecutive #1 songs for “On the Banks of the Promised Land” and “Mighty Big God.”

“Reach Out” received 2 GMA Dove Awards, including Country Song of the Year “Good Things Are Happening” and Southern Gospel Album of the Year. The first radio release, “On the Banks of the Promised Land,” reached #1 for December 2011. It was also selected as #1 for the Top 100 Songs of 2011 by Absolutely Gospel.Com. The second release, “Mighty Big God” reached #1 for July 2012. Accordingly, Karen Peck and New River was selected as Top Played Artist for 2011 (absolutelygospel.com), and their current release, “Good Things Are Happening” is quickly rising to the top of the charts.

The CD/DVD release “Live At Oak Tree Studio” brought the group their third Grammy nomination, receiving a 2011 nomination for Best Southern Gospel/Country Gospel/Bluegrass Album of the Year.

In 2010 “Four Days Late” was chosen by the Singing News Magazine as Song of the Decade as well as “I Wanna Know How It Feels,” being selected as #10 Song of the Decade.

Their 2009 release, “No Worries,” featured the radio hits “Why Should I worry,” “Why Can’t All God’s Children Get Along”, and “Special Love,” all reaching the Top 5 on the charts. “Why Can’t All God’s Children Get Along” received at 2010 Dove Award nomination for Song of the Year, with Karen Peck Gooch receiving a Female Vocalist of the Year nomination.

“Ephesians One,” released in September 2008, features the #1 song “I Want To Thank You”, and was nominated for a Grammy in 2009. “Each time we go into the studio to record a new album,” Karen shares, “we’re at a different place in our walk with Christ than the last time we prepared for a recording. Therefore, obviously, each recording pulls at a different heartstring, yet the message of hope is always present. That’s what life in Christ is all about. As a result of various circumstances each of us have faced over the past years, we’re at a point in our lives where we realize that anything we achieve or accomplish is all because of Christ. It is an honor to serve Him.”

Their album “Journey of Joy” received a Grammy nomination for 2008. “Journey of Joy” was also nominated for three Dove Awards. This album has three consecutive #1 songs including “Hey”, “Last Night”, and “Whispered Prayers”.

With appearances on such prestigious stages as The Grand Ole Opry, The Gaither Homecoming concerts, Opryland Theme Park, Dollywood and Six Flags Over Georgia, New River has firmly established their place at the forefront of Southern Gospel Music. Over the past decade, they have been featured on many television networks, with appearances on TBN’s Praise The Lord, the Grand Ole Opry Live and the popular Gaither Gospel video Series. The group has enjoyed many honors and accolades. They have received numerous industry and fan award nominations. They have consistently received radio airplay at stations nationwide. Hit releases have flowed their way in bunches, and they have enjoyed many Number One songs. A few of their other previous popular hits include: “Hold Me While I Cry”, “Just One Touch”, “I Wanna Know”, “God Likes To Work”, “Daddy’s Home”, “When Jesus Passes By”, “God Still Answers Prayer”, and “Christian In The House”. Additionally, the group’s Number One hit, “Four Days Late”, was also named Song of the Year by readers of The Singing New Magazine in 2001 and the SGMA Awards and continues to be a favorite among audiences.

The youngest of three daughters, Karen was exposed to the traditional sounds of Gospel Music at a very early age. Her parents often took Karen and her sisters, Susan and Sandra, to the all-night sings in Atlanta, and these concerts left an indelible mark on the youngsters who made a pact that someday they would share a musical ministry of their own.

One of the groups often featured at the Atlanta concerts was The Lefevres, who later became known as The Nelons. It would be a mild understatement to say that Karen had aspirations of singing with this talented family. In fact, that aspiration became her greatest desire, and in 1981, this dream became a reality when Karen was invited to travel with her favorite group. She remained with The Nelons for 10 years, gaining the respect of industry peers and fans alike with her exceptional vocal ability and caring personality.

Finally in 1991, the realization of yet another dream came to pass when Karen and her sister, Susan, with Karen’s husband Rickey, organized the musical entourage of Karen Peck and New River. Today the New River team consists vocally of Karen, Susan, and Jeff Hawes. Additionally, Karen’s husband, Rickey, serves as the group’s road manager and sound technician. Susan’s husband, David, is the founder and owner of the Jackson Steel Guitar Company. Dawn Hughes has traveled with the group since year 2000 as Karen Peck and New River’s assistant making New River a complete family affair.

New River sets a new standard for musical perfection with rich vocal harmony that is shaded with the sophistication of Southern Gospel, country and progressive musical sounds. New River today stands not only as a talented and successful recording artist, but more importantly, effective messengers presenting the Gospel, through Jesus Christ.

Multi-Award Winning Artist Jason Crabb Brings Music With a Message to Knoxville

World-Class Music Success Doesn’t Eclipse His First Call To Ministry

In April 2012 he stood onstage at the 2011 Dove Awards at the historic Fox Theater in Atlanta to receive ‘Song of The Year’ honors for ‘Sometimes I Cry.’ He’s performed at Carnegie Hall, became a favorite with audiences at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, was honored to sing for the Rev. Billy Graham’s ‘Farewell Crusade in New York City, and appeared regularly on the ever-popular Gaither Homecoming Series videos. His distinctive voice has echoed in churches great and small in America and throughout the world.

Russ Woolard, President of New Destiny Productions, says “now, Jason Crabb will bring his ministry inspired music with a message to Knoxville, TN on Saturday evening June 8th at 7 PM.”

Jason Crabb has in the last few years emerged as ‘the face’ of Southern Gospel Music to long-time listeners as well as to the legion of new generation fans he’s helped bring into the fold—transitioning seamlessly from his full-time role as the power-house lead vocalist for The Crabb Family when the group left the road—to launching a solo career that has already literally proven to be ‘without borders.’ Today at 34, with Grammy® and multiple Dove Awards to his credit, Jason Crabb wears success as singer, songwriter, musician, producer, and best selling author all with equal humility in the knowledge that God has called him to the mission of reaching people.

The gift he’ll bring to our Knoxville audience is the gift that he has taken seriously since beginning his journey in music at the age of 14. The son of one of the southern gospel genres most prolific writers, Gerald Crabb, who has crafted more than two dozen #1 songs that have topped the southern gospel charts), Jason learned early the incomparable value of an authentic ministry heart set to music. Amazingly as gifted to preach as he is to sing, the combination brings a spiritual impact to his concerts that is both powerful and memorable long after the last notes have faded.

“People everywhere are hurting,” he noted in a recent interview. “Their backs are against the wall. They’ve lost their jobs, their 401Ks and the big corporations in many cases are shutting down. We’re all human and we all struggle. A song like ‘Sometimes I Cry’ has had an amazing connection with people during these hard times. They need to hear it—to be reminded that it’s OK to be honest about where they are. Everyone walks through the fire of adversity, but whatever the experiences—joys or sorrows—our amazing God can use every bit of your life to produce the most unexpected results.”

In the face of an ever expanding reach of influence through music taking him to new audiences and new world encompassing opportunities to exercise his creativity, Jason is dedicated to staying close to the original call that keeps him on the road. People. People like those he’ll perform for here in Knoxville, TN on June 8th.

With the Grammy® Award in hand for his debut self-titled album Jason Crabb and the critically acclaimed success of his recently released inspirational book Trusting God To Get You Through (Charisma House), forwarded by Bill Gaither, reaching readers with a powerful depth of ministry, Jason Crabb is seemingly just now beginning to discover the full vision of all God has for his life.

An Evening With Jason Crabb, presented by New Destiny Productions (www.newdestinyproductions.com ) Saturday evening June 8th at Black Oak Heights Baptist Church, 405 Black Oak Drive, Knoxville TN 37912. Doors open at 6 PM. Concert begins at 7 PM. Tickets from $16.00 to $25 and are available at area Life Way and Cedar Springs Christian stores, Maryville-Alcoa Christian Shops, or call 1-800-965-9324 or www.itickets.com

Spend half your life doing any one thing, and at some point, you’re bound to question whether or not that one thing was the right thing.

For Jason Crabb, longtime powerhouse lead vocalist for The Crabb Family, that has never been a question.

With a soulful, unforgettable voice like his, the ‘right thing’ was always a given. He was born to sing. Baptized in a God-given talent pool, weaned on the hymnal and mentored by Bill Gaither himself, Jason Crabb hit the road at age 14 and, alongside his family, has pursued his calling full-throttle ever since.

He’s performed at Carnegie Hall, become a ‘fan favorite’ at the Grand Ole Opry, appeared regularly on the Gaither Homecoming Series videos, and was honored to sing for the Rev. Billy Graham’s farewell crusade in New York City. His voice has echoed in churches great and small at home in the U.S. and around the world.

But in 2007, the Grammy nominated, 10-time Dove Award winner, felt the winds of change blow in, and he knew it was time to pursue a new path. Solo.

The eclectic, even stunning result is Jason Crabb, a 12-track collection of authentic, lyrically rich songs delivered by one of the finest voices of his generation. Certainly one of the most acclaimed voices in all of Gospel music.

Produced by Grammy Award-winning Tommy Sims (Michael W. Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Michael McDonald, Amy Grant) and Norro Wilson (Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, George Jones, Shania Twain), Jason Crabb showcases this one-of-a-kind vocalist in all his stylistic glory. From driving full-country tunes to R&B-infused gospel to reinterpreted southern gospel classics, the recording features cameo appearances by country music legend Vince Gill, southern Gospel mainstay The Gaither Vocal Band and acclaimed songstress Sonya Isaacs.

Jason Crabb puts to flight the wings that grew out of his deep roots in gospel.

“I love singing with my family,” says Jason of his journey. “So it was always good to travel with them, and they remain some of my closest friends today. We approached our music as a team, which was effective, and I am so grateful for all we did as a family, but there was always this sense of ‘I’ve got so much more in here that I want to get out of me.’”

When The Crabb Family decided to officially retire, his siblings followed their dreams, but Jason wrestled with how he could chase his own and still be accepted by the audience that knows and loves him best.

“To be real honest,” he says, “I was a nervous wreck. It was like throwing sand into the wind; I didn’t really know how it would turn out. But I just relied on the truth I’d known for many years: ‘The songs pick you. And once they do, if you just let the song be the song, you will know what to do with it. You’ll know where to take it to best connect with the audience.”

And while that can’t be said of everyone who considers himself a performing artist, it is certainly true of Jason Crabb. He’s that rare breed of artist whose best gift is his ability to interpret a lyric. To wrap his soul-patina’d voice so completely around the message that what is heard transcends the mere marriage of poetry and sound.
Continuing the tradition his father, Gerald Crabb, taught him so well—that the best lyrics are rooted in real life, where real people live—Jason’s solo debut paints with broad strokes: Authenticity. Hope. Faith. Humanness.

“ It’s the path you take, the step you make that makes you who you are; it’s the life you live, the gifts you give, the love that’s in your heart. Just try to do the best you can to be a better man. You don’t have to walk on water, it’s how you walk on land.” —from “Walk on Water”

With songs like “Walk on Water” (written by Bobby O. Pinson, Trent Tomlinson, Vicky McGehee) and “Sometimes I Cry,” (written by Gerald Crabb, one of the most prolific songwriters around with 22 #1 southern Gospel hits), Jason both acknowledges and encourages hurting people, leaving something more substantive that ‘feel good entertainment.’

“People everywhere are hurting,” he says. “Their backs are against the wall. They’ve lost their jobs, their 401Ks. Big corporations are shutting down… We’re human and we stumble over everything we’re trying to be, to live up to…. ‘Sometimes I Cry’ is different from 98% of everything I’ve sung before. It’s a slow song. There’s no modulation at the end, no rousing note at the end; but the first time we did it live, people stood to their feet. They needed to hear it, to be reminded that’s it’s okay to be honest about where they are.”

“Ellsworth,” a poignant story-song about the power of love and memories co-written by Neil Thrasher, gives the collection a decidedly country feel. Featuring background vocals from the incomparable Vince Gill, “Ellsworth” is “the kind of song that sticks in your heart and reminds you how precious life is,” Jason says. “Everybody wants a love like that, and to see it in that story… well, it’s just a powerful thing.”

And that story is especially close to Jason whose wife’s grandmother suffers from Alzheimer’s, making it a disease with which they are all too familiar. “I knew immediately when I heard this song that I wanted to record it. I did it to honor Shellye and her grandmother specifically and hope it encourages many others.
Other surprises on the debut include: the bouncing, danceable “Hope For Me Yet,” a Marc Broussard/Radney Foster/Justin Tocket ode to love, “Forever’s End” penned by Randy Goodrum (“Oh Sherry,” “You Needed Me”), reinterpretations of the Crabb Family favorite “Through The Fire,” and “Daystar,” a Cathedrals’ classic, and a worshipful ballad “I Will Love You.”

“ With my every breath, I’ll make your mercy known. With every soul on earth or all alone, I will love you, Lord, I will love you.” —from “I Will Love You”
It was never a question in his mind. Jason Crabb was born to sing. And sing he would. Anyone who has ever heard him sing would bear witness. His gospel roots always ran deep, and he logged the miles to prove it. But this, this is different.

This is Jason Crabb, standing in his own shoes, singing the songs that make his own heart, his own voice, soar.
